The Pirates will take on Oakwood in a Sussex County Football League Division Two Challenge Cup semi-final at The Oval, home of Eastbourne United AFC, tonight (Tuesday). Kick-off is 7.45pm. “It’s definitely a game we would expect to win,” said McCreadie, who hopes to welcome back long-term injury victim Ashley Jarvis. “I will have my proper side and with my strongest squad, we should beat anybody in the league.” Bexhill are eighth in the league - four places and eight points above Oakwood having played two more games. Both league matches between the two clubs ended in 1-1 draws. Bexhill pulled the curtain down on their home programme for the season with a narrow defeat against second-placed Broadbridge Heath on Saturday. A goal shortly after the hour denied the Pirates a point against a Heath side which has lost just two league matches all term. Jamie Salvidge had an effort saved by the away goalkeeper on 12 minutes and Heath opened the scoring a minute later through what McCreadie described as a soft goal scored by Tiago Andrade. Bexhill were level within two minutes, though, as Danny Turner became the club’s 18th different scorer this season following a good pass by Jacob Shelton. That was only the 20th league goal Heath have let in all term. Heath won it in the 64th minute when Andrade headed home a long throw at the near post. Shelton had a great chance just before that and later went off with a twisted ankle.
