Morten hopes Blues can build on cup defeat at Pagham

Rustington Football Club boss Ryan Morten hopes a decent showing against division-higher Pagham in their Sussex Senior Cup exit on Tuesday night can spur them on in the league.

Blues were under no illusion of the task they faced and Morten admitted the hosts were worthy 3-0 winners, but said: “Everyone worked really, really hard and they seemed to come together as a team, there was no arguing or back-biting. We took the game as one to enjoy as we weren’t destined to win.

“We did lose and we have to take that on board, but it was a lot better and if we play like that against Div 2 sides, and I know I am biased, but I can only see us going up the table.”
