MIDDLE-aged governess Miss Guinevere Pettigrew finds herself thrown into the glamorous and glitzy world of 1930s celebrity when she starts working as a social secretary for American actress and singer Delysia Lafosse.
Although out of her depth, Miss Pettigrew (Frances McDormand) embraces her job and tries to help her new friend (Amy Adams) navigate both her love life and her career, which are complicated by three men; devoted pianist Michael (Lee Pace), intimidating nightclub owner Nick (Mark Stong) and young, impressionable Phil (Tom Payne).
Meanwhile, Miss Pettigrew herself is drawn to the gallant Joe (Ciarán Hinds), whose haughty fiancée Edythe (Shirley Henderson) schemes to expose her inexperience and ruin her position in high society.
Based on the 1938 novel of the same name by Winifred Watson, this is the perfect film for all those who loved Mrs Henderson Presents.
