Southwater skate park must not become a ‘money pit’
Southwater Skate Park was supported by parish councillors unless it becomes a ‘money pit’ as its future was debated last Wednesday.
The facility, in Southwater Country Park, was vandalised in early September with Southwater Parish Council picking up a £4,000 bill for repairs for a broken hand board on one of the wooden ramps.
All members spoke of the importance of the skate park as a facility for the village, but since the structure had been the subject of numerous cases of vandalism, it was suggested that rebuilding it in concrete may be the best long-term solution.
