The incident happened on the Bognor Road, Chichester, between Quarry Lane and Florence Road around 2.30am. Lorry crash One resident said he managed to sleep through the crash. His neighbour said he woke up to what he thought was thunder, before he heard sirens and looked out his window - to see a lorry in his front garden. The A259 Bognor Road has been closed in both directions while emergency services try to clear the scene, causing severe congestion around the city. Pictures of the scene: Overturned lorry Police are now warning motorists to expect delays on the A27. A spokesman for Sussex Police said: “A lorry carrying fresh produce collided with a garden wall, spilling its load of asparagus.” The driver was taken to St Richard’s Hospital in Chichester but was not seriously injured. The lorry will be escorted to Shoreham this morning which may cause further delays along the A27, police said. No arrests have been made and it is not known when the A259 will reopen.
