Tyne Cot CemeteryCdr Rogers then took part in memorial services there and at Tyne Cot Cemetery, the largest war cemetery in the world.
A total of 11,953 Commonwealth servicemen are buried or commemorated there.
Cdr Rogers, whose family continues to live in Shoreham, said: "I really appreciated the opportunity to come and show my respect for all those, both from the Royal Navy and the other services, who gave their lives during World War One, especially in the 90th anniversary year of the Arm-istice.
"It was very moving to visit both Passchendaele and the cemetery at Tyne Cot."
