SHOREHAM lifeboat's long serving coxswain became the first ever to wing walk (August 15) as he took to the skies.
Peter Huxtable MBE who is no stranger to perilous conditions at sea was strapped to the top of a biplane which took off from Shoreham Airport and flew over the harbour and lifeboat station to raise awareness of the £1million Shoreham lifeboat station appeal and this months Shoreham RAFA Air Show.

Click the green play button to see video of Peter's wing walk and to hear about what to expect at this year's Shoreham Air Show.

The stunt saw him become the first ever lifeboat crew member to try the daring act of wing walking.

Peter, who has been on the volunteer crew of the RNLI lifeboat station in Brighton Road for 38 years, flew at speeds of up to 150mph.

Afterwards he said: "It was fantastic. I have never experienced anything like it. It was pretty windy up there and obviously very different to going out on the lifeboat."

For more photos and full coverage of Peter's wingwalk and the forthcoming Shoreham Air Show on August 30 and 31, see Thursday's Shoreham Herald (August 21).
