I AM writing in response to the "anonymous" attack on my wife in last week's Herald.
This "name and address supplied" person obviously does not like the fact that my wife is successful in having a number of letters published.
The first thing one can advise this person on is the fact that he/she does not actually have to read an
y letter if they choose not to.
Do they watch every programme on television every night, simply because it is listed in the Radio Times?
Or do they perhaps select the ones they are interested in watching.
Well, Mr or Mrs, the same thing is possible with newspapers, too.
I am assuming that this person does not actually know my wife.
If they did, they would know that, for everything she has had published, she has helped someone else anonymously.
She has helped publicise many local people, charities and events, including the Shoreham Festival each year, and is also well known in aviation journalism.
Recently, a friend of ours decorated his flat's garden, to the enjoyment of many.
It was my wife who brought this to the Herald's attention to run a story on it.
She was invited to take part in this and the publicity pictures, but declined, insisting only those who deserved the merit took part.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion on anything, but it would have been nice if this enigmatic author had had the courage to put their name to their letter, rather than adopt the cowardly and spineless tactics of the poison-pen letter.
