Give in to writing compulsion
Published Date:

I AM no psychologist but over many years I've felt the human condition is prone to obsession in what ever varied form it may manifest.
Such obsession can range from the harmless at one end of the scale, to compulsive at the other.
On those irregular occasions that I venture to open the pages of the Shoreham Herald, I am concerned enough to observe that a tiny minority of readers might be veering towards a compulsion to write a letter every week, regardless of the content of their contribution.
So, I ask in my humble way, what is this compulsion to write?
Is the letters page for readers to advise, inform, remind, complain or praise?
Or, is it just to see their name in bold italics?
Sadly, I feel this minority rather favours the latter.
I just hope you don't think that I have fallen into the same trap. Don't worry I won't bother you again.
