First of all, my apologies to Herald readers.
When mentioning in passing the ubiquitous Jill Cowles in my previous letter I should have realised her "right to reply" would have opened up another platform for her.

While I am sure the minutiae of her life are of endless fascination to "Jill and
friends", I feel it is rather a stretch to believe this interest extends to the greater population.

Never mind, my consolation for my mistake, if the editor sees fit to publish my letter, will be the resulting "lift" I hope to receive.

Anyway, to more important matters.

My nomination for the ugliest buildings in Shoreham goes to the recently emptied and hideously boarded buildings (pictured left) in Tarmount Lane.

On my regular visit to the Wednesday market (wonderfully rejuvenated; well done to all concerned), I noticed they were only then erecting the "For Sale" sign, so I wonder how long we will have to endure this eyesore before the site is redeveloped.

I certainly hope not as long as the Ropetackle site took, although I must say I come down on the side of those who like that particular development.
