"HOW to save fuel" – this is a constant headline and still with no answer, unless you turn back the clock to 1973.
Edward Heath, as Prime Minister, passed a law that made all vehicles with internal combustion engines using motorways limited to 50mph.

During this period, checks were made using tachographs, which measured speed, time and distance.

The long journeys took only a few minutes longer, which proved Mr Heath was correct to introduce the speed limit – let's see if the present government will do the same.
