WE were very disappointed that the annual Beach Dreams fireworks event did not take place this year, as attendance at this has been a tradition in our family for many years.
From the Beach Dreams 2008 forum at www.shorehambysea.com, it appears that cost is the main reason, as well as a lack of volunteer stewards, leading to health and safety concerns.
It seems to us that Beach Dreams events take place largely than
ks to the incredible amount of hard work, dedication and self-sacrifice of a few wonderful people, as well as generous sponsorship from some local businesses.
If we want these fantastic community events to continue, then it is up to each and every one of us to put our hands in our pockets to support them financially, as well as volunteering to help where possible.
There are many ways to donate, and information is given in the Beach Dreams newsletters which pop through our doors periodically.
You can stick a few quid in the collecting buckets during the events themselves, or donate online at
www.beachdreams.org.uk We should say we are not involved with the Beach Dreams team ourselves, but we have always enjoyed the events, and we really want them to continue.
Please, let's all do our bit to keep our Beach Dreams alive!
