MANY thanks to the fire crews who came to my house after I rang them when I noticed smoke.
I did get all my pets out, but four of them ran back indoors again, so I was anxious until firefighters rescued them.
A Red Cross team also attended and they were a great help, contacting people.
They waited until the door was boarded and the
lights were back on.
Their caravanette broke down, so the firefighters came back and rescued them as well.
Since then, it has been like living in a nightmare.
So much paperwork has to be done before any work is carried out – surveyors, loss assessors, cleaning – and all this before having a temporary roof repair.
I've also had to organise medication for my pets and emergency treatment for myself, as well as letting the usual people I do voluntary work for know that I am not available.
I now at least feel that I have the experience to help other people going through similar experiences.
