HOW refreshing to read Ernie Mustard's timely letter about writing compulsion.
Week after week, we endure waffle from regular contributors, yet, sadly, few Shoreham folk seem to air their concerns re serious issues facing the town.

For instance, the disappearance of local small shops from the town and the destruction unde
r the guise of the Renaissance plan of much-loved buildings such as the Halcyon Club.

More recently, this paper reported some 10,000 new houses were being imposed upon us by the un-elected busybodies of SEEDA.

Doesn't anyone care about the disastrous impact this will have?

Then there's the downgrading by West Sussex County Council traffic prevention officers of the A259 from a perfectly good and safe 40mph stretch of road to a dangerous 30mph obstacle course, resulting in frustration, delays, additional air pollution and wasted fuel.

At a time when increasing traffic volumes dictate the need to speed the flow, the county council seems intent on bringing it to a complete standstill.

Wake up, people of Shoreham, and protest before it's too late.

Ah what enlightened comments, what a visionary. I must stop, sarcasm is the lowest form of humour according to my dear old Mum. Mr Pelluet may have a point regarding the Harbour development but this pails into insignificance in light of his comments on the A259.

I am a driver, I drive 35,000 miles per year. SO before anyone assumes I am Guardian reading lentil eating cyclist - STOP! I am a gas guzzling carnivore (who occasionally reads The Gruniad). However the slowing down of traffic from the Norfolk bridge to Lancing is long overdue. From the Scout hut and Adur Centre to the family houses along the Brighton road there are highly populated, busy pedestrian featured areas thoughout this stretch and frankly the extra 30 seconds it takes to get from SHoreham is a small price to pay. How do the stats work at 30mph 80% of children survive a RTA whilst at 40mph the percentage is reciprocated?

Get a handle sir and protest about meaningful issues
