SOUTHWICK Cricket Club dropped to the bottom of Invitation League Division 1 on Saturday and are now all but relegated.
Their slim hopes of survival rest upon taking maximum points from their two remaining games, and Chippingdale and Crawley Eagles both taking less than 11 points each from their two matches.
At Selsey, who are now relegated because they have only one game left, Wickers were dismissed for only 98, and captain Chris Summers scored 58 of those runs, with seven fours and two sixes from 49 balls.
He said: "It was nowhere near as difficult as we made it, but there was just a lack of application with the bat. It's been like that all season.
"I think we are definitely down now, so we have to go out and play for pride because we don't want to finish bottom."
Steve Martin, with 12, was the only other Southwick batsman to make double figures, while four players recorded ducks.
Paul Grennan took two early wickets in 10-man Selsey's reply, and Warwick McClymont then reduced them to 35-3, but an unbroken 66-run third-wicket stand guided Selsey home.
Southwick host second-bottom Wisborough Green on Saturday.
Portslade also struggled with the bat at home to Crawley Eagles on Saturday, and lost by 27 runs.
Rashid, with 62, top-scored for Eagles but Portslade bowled them out for 171. Alex Smith took four wickets for 42 runs, and Luke Jones grabbed three wickets for 41 runs.
Portslade then lost regular wickets in reply and crashed to 144 all out. Paul Glover struck 37, and Luke Jones fired 29 not out.
Captain Sam Jones said: "We fielded well and bowled well, but then let ourselves down with the batting.
"We lost a couple of early wickets and then made a complete mess of it.
"We've now got two games left and can finish anywhere between third to eighth. But if we finish in the top six, we'll be happy."
Portslade are at Ram on Saturday.
