SHOREHAM Football Club will host Ryman League Kingstonian in the FA Cup preliminary round on August 30 after their victory over Hassocks on Saturday.
Kingstonian have progressed to the first round proper, or further, on 10 occasions, and reached the fourth round in 2001, when they beat Brentford and Southend.
Their past FA Cup exploits have also seen them defeat Brighton & Hove Albion, 2-1, in 1994, and the club won the FA Trophy twice in succession, in 1999 and 2000.
Shoreham joint-manager Darren Donnelly said: "It's a great draw, at home, against a big name. We are probably only going to get one bite of the cherry, so we'll have to be clinical with our finishing.
"We will all look forward to it, and relish the challenge."
The game with Hassocks was played at Lancing's Culver Road, because heavy midweek rain had left Hassocks' pitch unplayable.
The only goal came on 20 minutes when Dean Smith flicked on a clearance and Neil Kane outpaced the Hassocks defence before coolly slotting past Paul Williams.
Mussels defender Lee Denyer twice went close to extending his side's lead before half-time. Firstly, his well-struck free kick was well gathered by Williams, then his header flashed just wide.
Shoreham also had a penalty appeal turned down when James Bird appeared to handle Dan Taylor's cross.
Hassocks failed to test Shoreham keeper Michael Hunter all game, and they were reduced to 10 men with 25 minutes left when Ali Russell was red-carded for allegedly stamping on Owen Callaghan.
There were conflicting views on the dismissal. Some spectators said it was unintentional after he was fouled, while the Shoreham bench were in doubts about the degree of intent.
Donnelly added: "It was a good quality performance, and we needed this confidence boost after losing our first two games."
SHOREHAM: Hunter; Mighall, Hurley, Denyer, Philpott; Boddy, Smith, Taylor, Keehan, O.Callaghan; Kane. Subs: Annis (Kane 70), Burt, Borrer, Spragg, Priestley, Green.
