WORTHING Football Club exited the FA Cup with a 1-0 defeat on Saturday at Bury Town.
Southern League Midlands Division scored the only goal after nine minutes when Liam Barrett coolly slotted home Sam Reed's pass, and it was enough to earn his side the £7,500 prize money.
Shortly afterwards, Rebels had a penalty appeal waved away when Jamie Brotherton went down under a Rosoce Hipperson challenge.
And Bury almost doubled their lead immediately but Reed fired wide when well-placed.
Worthing failed to create any clear equalising chances in the second half, and the closest they came was when Andy Alexander's flicked header from Scott Kirkwood's long throw dropped just wide.
Rebels joint manager Danny Bloor said: "We should have got them back down here for a replay.
"A defensive slip gave them the lead but we then had two unbelievable penalty appeals turned down.
"It should have been 0-0 and then we'd have hopefully beaten them down here. We'd then have fancied our chances against Basingstoke or Bashley at home in the next round, so it's just disappointing."
