AN Alzheimer's sufferer who went missing from his Storrington home has been found safe and well.
Alfred Clarke, 78, had not been seen since he left his home at 10am last Monday (September 22) to walk into the village.

Police launched a massive search of the village and surrounding countryside, including many local gardens and nearby farmland.

Leaflets were handed out and posters were displayed at petrol stations and shops as police grew concerned for Alfred in the cold weather.

During the afternoon of Sunday, September 28, a member of the public found Mr Clarke in Parham Park, near Storrington.

His was described as being well and was taken to Worthing Hospital for a check-up. He has now been reunited with his family.

Inspector Paul Williams, of Steyning police, said: "We are truly grateful for the assistance that Sussex Search and Rescue, the Neighbourhood Watch search teams and the residents of Storrington have been able to give.

"Most importantly, however, we are pleased to see that Alfred has been safely reunited with his family."
