SPRINTER Darren Cambell put youngsters through their paces at a Superschools event.
The 35-year-old retired athlete visited Steyning Grammar School's Church Street site for the fund-raiser.

More than 450 pupils collected sponsorship money and took part in the event, and Tim Matthews, the school's director of sport, said the day had been a runaway success.

He told the Herald: "The Superschools event was set up to allow Steyning Grammar School students to raise money both for PE at the school and for Superschools.

"Superschools uses this money to provide young athletes with the potential to represent the UK at future Olympic games, with grants.

"Every student – and several teachers – had their photo taken with Darren Campbell, who then did two question and answer sessions with the students about his life as a professional athlete.

"The students loved meeting Darren and completing the exercises, as they felt they had done something really worthwhile.

"The money raised will be put towards developing sporting opportunities for students at Steyning Grammar School."
